The Masters Tournament (89th) (April 10-13). On a roller-coaster day of golf, Rory McIlroy (N.Ire) beat Justin Rose (Eng) with a birdie at the first playoff hole (par-4 18th). [Augusta National GC, Augusta, GA].
Note: this was McIlroy's first major title for 11 years, and brought him the much coveted career Grand Slam of all four men's majors. Only five other players have achieved this feat: Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

The Open Championship (153rd) (July 17-20). Second-placed Harris English (USA) finished 4 shots behind Scottie Scheffler (USA), who recorded his second major championship win of 2025 and fourth major title in total. Scheffler joined Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as players to win The Open, Masters and US PGA Championship before age 30. [Dunluce Links, Royal Portrush GC, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland].

The US Open (125th) (June 12-15). Second-placed Robert MacIntyre (Scot) finished 2 shots behind John Michael "J.J." Spaun Jr (USA), who was the only player to finish the tournament under par. Spaun recorded his second PGA Tour win and first in a major championship. [Oakmont CC, nr Pittsburgh, PA].

The US PGA Championship (107th) (May 15-18). Second-placed Harris English (USA), Davis Riley (USA) and Bryson DeChambeau (USA) finished 5 shots behind Scottie Scheffler (USA), who recorded his third major championship win. [Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, North Carolina].
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
