The Bluffs Country Club: GOLF COURSE CLOSED IN 2021; it is planned to give the course a comprehensive makeover, and re-open it as a private members-only facility called The Bluffs Club. It appears the nearby Lodge at The Bluffs has remained open. Check for current status before planning a visit.
[Original Where2Golf description]: Nestled among the hardwoods and undulating landscape alongside Thompson Creek, The Bluffs is an upscale, master-planned, residential community that includes a fabulous Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course. Originally called The Bluffs at Thompson Creek, then just The Bluffs, the club now appears to have reverted to being called The Bluffs on Thompson Creek.
The natural beauty of the land takes precedence here, while the homes are generally set well back, behind the attractively tree-lined fairways. The layout includes excellent quality bunkering, a myriad of water hazards provided by natural creeks and ponds, pleasant elevation changes and some splendid views out onto Thompson Creek.
The Bluffs will hold your interest and test your golfing skills from start to finish. The immensely scenic opening and closing holes are perched directly above the bluffs, which form the westerly bank of Thompson Creek. An award winning layout and ranked by many as the top course in the state of Louisiana.
Stay&Play at The Bluffs: onsite accommodation available, see Where2Stay section below.
Check with club (if and when it reopens).
Non-metal spike facility. Walking permitted at all times.

Originally known as The Bluffs at Thompson Creek, this was once a much revered private golf course. It was one of the top-rated courses in Louisiana.
Just a couple of miles away is Oakley Plantation House, located within the Audubon Memorial State Park. It was here, while hired for four months as a drawing teacher, that naturalist John James Audubon painted 32 of his famous bird pictures. The house, kitchen and slaves dwellings are now open to the public, and have been restored to the period style (1790-1830), reflecting their appearance when Audubon stayed here. A guided tour is recommended.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
