Nordqvist attended college at Arizona State University, and now resides in Orlando, Florida. She was runner-up in the British Ladies Amateur Championship in 2006 and 2007. Her perseverance eventually paid off, winning the event at the third attempt in 2008.
Nordqvist's first professional win came in only her fifth professional start, which also happended to be a major championship, the 2009 LPGA Championship. Eight years later she bagged a second major title, winning the Evian Championship in a playoff.
Nordqvist was the Ladies European Tour Rookie of the Year in 2009, and also runner-up to Jiyai Shin for the LPGA Rookie of the Year award in the same year.

Nordqvist (Swe) won the LET 2009 Ryder Cup Wales Rookie of the Year Award as the leading first-season player. She finished 13th on the Tour's (money-based) Order of Merit, with earnings of €100,966.
