Played as the Algarve Portuguese Open (Feb 17-20). Second-placed Phillip Price (Wales) finished 1 shot behind 32-year-old Gary Orr (Scot), who recorded his first European Tour win. [Penina Resort, Portimao, Algarve, Portugal].

Orr (Scot) won the European Tour 1993 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award as the leading first-season player. Orr finished 30th on the Tour's Order of Merit, with earnings of £173,979.
Presidents Cup: Geoff Ogilvy’s International Team take on Brandt Snedeker’s USA Team at the revered Medinah Country Club, near Chicago. The Internationals are trying to halt a run of 11 consecutive American wins. (Sept 24-27).
French Open: Continental Europe’s oldest national championship, dating from 1906, is once again staged on the Albatros Course at Le Golf National, near Paris. Defending champion is America’s Michael Kim. (Sept 24-27).
