Hensby left school aged 16 to work as a postman ... and to concentrate on his golf. Aged 23 he moved from Australia to Chicago, where he won the Illinois State Amateur Championship in 1994. During his professional golfing career he has been equally at home playing on the tours in Australasia, Europe and the U.S.

Played as the Invited Celebrity Classic (April 21-23; formerly ClubCorp Classic). 51-year-old Mark Hensby (Aus) beat Charlie Wi (S Kor) with a par at the fourth playoff hole (par-5 18th), to record his first PGA Tour Champions win in his 15th start on the Tour. [Las Colinas CC, Irving, TX].

Played as the Scandinavian Masters by Carlsberg (Jul 28-31). 33-year-old Mark Hensby (Aus) beat home-favourite Henrik Stenson (Swe) with a par at the second playoff hole, to record his first and only European Tour win. [King's course, Kungsängen GC, nr Stockholm].

Played as the John Deere Classic (July 8-11). First-time PGA Tour winner Hensby (Aus) beat John E. Morgan (Eng) with a par at the second playoff hole. [TPC Deere Run, Silvis, IL].
The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
