Jim Furyk (USA) was second with 3,499,522 pts; Miguel Ángel Jiménez (Esp) was third with 3,051,298 pts. The Cup is awarded based on points earned for top 10 finishes during the PGA Tour Champions wrap-around 2020/21 season. Note: The Charles Schwab Cup was not presented in 2020, following the cancellation of many events (and four major championships) due to the global coronavirus pandemic. The 2020 and 2021 seasons were combined into one, with associated awards being made at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Despite winning seven times on the Tour in 2017, Langer was beaten to the Cup by Sutherland, who clinched the trophy in the final playoff event with his first ever win on the Tour. 56-year-old Steve Stricker (USA) won the PGA Tour Champions season-long points chase, to capture the Charles Schwab Cup and $1 million annuity cheque. Steven Alker (NZ) was second with 3,173,127 pts; Ernie Els (RSA) was third with 2,642,983 pts. Stricker clinched the title without playing in any of the three Schwab Cup playoff events.
Note: In 2023, prior to the three Schwab Cup playoff events, the season-long Money List was converted into points ($1 = 1 point). Earnings from the playoff events provided additional "double points" ($1 = 2 points).
124th US Open: the No.2 Course at Pinehurst once again plays host to this most illustrious championship (June 13-16). Wyndham Clark defends his title, having won at Los Angeles CC in 2023.
79th Women’s US Open: the second women’s major championship of the season gets underway at Lancaster CC in Pennsylvania. It’s the second time the championship has been held here.

Nelly Korda: won the Mizuho Americas Open (May 16-19) at Liberty National GC, continuing her extraordinary form in LPGA events. This was her sixth win in seven starts in 2024.
Xander Schauffele: recorded his first major championship win, and second record-equalling low score of 62 in a major. Only he, Branden Grace, Rickie Fowler and Shane Lowry have achieved this feat in a men’s major championship.
