The Chevron Championship (54th) (April 24-27). 23-year-old Mao Saigo (Jpn) beat Ariya Jutanugarn (Thai), Lindy Duncan (USA), Ruoning Yin (China) and Hyo Joo Kim (S Kor) with a birdie at the first playoff hole (par-5 18th). Saigo recorded her first major championship win and first LPGA Tour victory in her 37th start on the Tour. [Nicklaus course, Club at Carlton Woods, The Woodlands, Texas].

The Amundi Evian Championship (31st) (July 10-13). 24-year-old Grace Kim (Aus) beat Atthaya "Jeeno" Thitikul (Thai) with an eagle at the second playoff hole (par-5 18th). This was Kim's first major championship win, and second LPGA Tour win. In strong contention on the last day, finishing one off the lead, was amateur Lottie Woad (Eng). The US Women's Open presented by Ally (80th) (May 29-Jun 1). Second-placed Nelly Korda (USA) and Rio Takeda (USA) finished 2 shots behind 25-year-old Maja Stark (Swe), who recorded her second LPGA Tour win and first major championship title. [Erin Hills, Erin, nr Milwaukee, Wisconsin].

The KPMG Women's PGA Championship (71st) (June 19-22). Second-placed Auston Kim (USA) and Chanettee Wannasaen (Thai) finished 3 shots behind Minjee Lee (Aus), who recorded her third major championship win. [Fields Ranch East course, PGA Frisco, Frisco, nr Dallas, TX].
Women’s (British) Open: the last women’s major championship of the season is hosted by Royal Porthcawl GC. It’s the first time this fabulous seaside links course has hosted the event (July 31-Aug 3).
Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7). After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
