Aged 40, Derksen played his 394th and final European Tour event at the end of the 2014 season. He had competed in 394 events and recorded two wins. His biggest victory came in the 2003 Dubai Desert Classic, where he closed with a 65 to beat Ernie Els by one shot. His highest finish on the tour was 36th in the 2007 money list. Derksen was known for wearing colourful broad-hooped shirts, with the collar turned-up.

Defending champion Ernie Els (RSA) finished 1 shot behind 29-year-old Robert-Jan Derksen (Neth), who recorded his first European Tour win with a final round 65 and a birdie at the last hole. Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
