Steinhauer attended college at the University of Texas, turning professional as a golfer at the age of 22. She is a three-time winner of the Women's British Open (1998, '99 and 2006), an event which only became a major championship from 2001. Steinhauer retired from the LPGA Tour in 2012, and now plays on the Legends Tour.
