Turning professional in 2005, "Rafa" made his way onto the full European Tour in 2007, recording his first victory in 2009. His second and biggest win (to date) came at the 2012 Dubai Desert Classic. Although further wins have eluded him, several runner-up and top 10 finishes led to his inclusion in the 2016 Ryder Cup team. Although on the losing side, he recorded one of only four Sunday singles wins for the Europeans, and was the team's third highest points contributor with 2.5 points from three matches.

Rafael "Rafa" Cabrera-Bello (Esp) beat fellow Spaniard Adri Arnaus (Esp) with a birdie at the first playoff hole (par-4 18th), to win his home national title. Played as the Austrian Golf Open (Sept 17-20; Eurpn Tr event). Second-placed Benn Barham (Eng) finished 1 shot behind first-time European Tour winner Cabrera-Bello (Esp). The Spaniard became the 13th player to shoot a European Tour record round of 60, and only the third to achieve it on the last day and win. [Fontana GC, Oberwaltersdorf, nr Vienna, Austria].
The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
