Did you know?

In a very successful amateur career Zalatoris attended and played golf for Wake Forest University in North Carolina (the "Demon Deacons"). Among many prestigious amateur honours, he won the 2014 US Junior Amateur Championship. In 2017 he played in the successful USA Walker Cup team, and was also named that year's Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year.

Having turned professional in 2018, Zalatoris shot to prominence with his second place finish in the 2021 Masters Tournament. He followed this with further major championship runner-up performances in 2022, in the PGA Championship (losing in a playoff to Justin Thomas) and in the US Open (losing by 1 shot to England's Matt Fitzpatrick). His first PGA Tour win came in the FedEx St Jude Championship, hot on the heels of his near-winning performances in the 2022 majors.

Played as FedEx St Jude Championship (Aug 11-14; the first of three FedExCup playoff events, formerly called The Northern Trust). 26-year-old Will Zalatoris (USA) beat Sepp Straka (Aut) with a bogie at the third playoff hole (par-3 11th), to record his first PGA Tour win in his 56th start on the Tour. The win pushed Zalatoris into the world Top 10 of male professional golfers for the first time. [TPC Southwind, Memphis, TN].
