MAJORS (2). Ryder Cup player (1967, '69, '71, '73, '75, '77, '79); Ryder Cup captain (1983, '85, '87, '89). Total professional wins (28), including European circuit/Tour (15) and PGA Tour (4). World Golf Hall of Fame (inducted in 2002). Appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, CBE (1990).

Golf course design

Among several design projects Tony Jacklin was involved in, two stand out. In 1990 he designed San Roque Old Course together with course architect Dave Thomas. Jacklin teamed up with Jack Nicklaus in 2006 to design The Concession in Florida. The club name honours the moment when Nicklaus famously conceded Jacklin's two-foot putt at the final hole of their Ryder Cup singles match in 1969. The concession ensured their match was halved and the overall result was a tie between Europe and the USA.

Did you know?

Jacklin was the most successful British golfer of his generation, winning two major championships, and playing in seven Ryder Cups. When he won the U.S. Open in 1970, he was the first European to do so since 1925. He became Europe's most successful Ryder Cup captain ever. After an initial loss to the Americans, he famously led the European team to back-to-back wins and a tie (in which Europe retained the trophy).
