Did you know?

Stacy came from an active family that was steeped in sports, not least golf. With nine golfing siblings around her, she pursued an excellent amateur golf career that included three straight wins in the US Girls' Junior championship (1969-71).

Aged 20, Stacy turned professional in 1974. From 1977 to 1983 she recorded 82 top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour. Her total haul of 18 LPGA Tour wins included four major championships, of which three came in US Women's Opens. It was said at the time that nobody coped better with tough courses than Stacy, and few players had a short game that could match hers.
