Did you know?

Lee Westwood, also known as "Westy', was a European and PGA Tour player, who won tournaments on virtually every continent and on every major professional tour. He won over 20 European Tour events, and come second or third in five major championships.

Westwood played in every Ryder Cup since 1997, a testament to his longevity and quality as a top-flight tour professional. Westwood played in ten Ryder Cups, equal to Bernhard Langer and Christy O'Connor Snr. Only Nick Faldo (11) and Phil Mickelson (11) have played in more.

Westwood's first wife Laurae is the sister of Scottish Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart.

Westwood enjoyed notable victories on the European Tour (25) and PGA Tour (2), as well as recording several other international tour wins. In 2022, aged 49, he was enticed onto Greg Norman's "rebel" LIV Golf series, alongside a few other well-known but mainly "ageing" golf stars, and an abundance of lower-ranked "unknowns". (LIV Golf is a Saudi Arabian-bankrolled breakaway rival to the main international tours. It is based on limited-field 54-hole events, with massive prize funds, guaranteed payouts and, for some, eye-watering signing-on bonuses).
