Did you know?

Before becoming a club professional in El Paso, Texas in 1960, Trevino had served four years as an enlisted soldier in the U.S. Marine Corps. He began playing on the PGA Tour in 1967, winning his first Tour event the following year. This first win just just happened to be in the U.S. Open, where he finished 4 shots ahead of second-placed Jack Nicklaus. During his career he won 29 times on the PGA Tour, an impressive haul that included two U.S. Opens, two Open Championships and two US PGA Championship titles. During the 1975 Western Open, Trevino was struck by lightning and suffered spinal injuries, which required surgery to correct. Always known for his humour and unique swing, Trevino played a key role in ensuring the success of the Senior PGA (now Champions) Tour.
