The inaugural US Women's Amateur Championship, and only one played on a strokeplay basis. Second-placed Nellie Sargent (USA) finished 2-shots behind Mrs Charles S. "Lucy" Brown (USA, of Shinnecock Hills GC), who shot a course record 132 for this 18-hole event (played on a 9-hole course). This was Brown's only appearance in a US Women's Amateur.
