Note: during this event, Dale Whitnell (Eng) accomplished the rare feat of making two holes-in-one in the same round. In the second round, he aced the par-3 2nd, and aced again at the par-3 12th. Only three other players are thought to have done this in a top-level professional tournament: Bill Whedon (1955, Insurance City Open); Yusaku Miyazaro (2006, Reno Tahoe Open), and Brian Harman (2015, The Barclays).

Winner: Although not winning a LIV individual event in 2025, Jon Rahm (Esp) won the season-long LIV Individual Championship, with 226.16 accumulated points. He collected the $18 million champion's bonus for the second straight year.
Second and third: Despite winning five LIV individual events in 2025, Joaquín Niemann (Chile) came second, with 223.68 pts ($8 million bonus). Bryson DeChambeau (USA) was third with 144.74 pts ($4 million bonus).

For the fourth straight year, Rory McIlroy (N.Ire) received the Harry Vardon Trophy and an estimated US$2 million bonus as the European Tour 2025 Order of Merit (Race to Dubai) winner. He accumulated 5,975.06 points* during the season and was declared the Race to Dubai winner after the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. This was McIlroy's seventh European Tour Order of Merit title; only Colin Montgomerie (8) has won it more times.
Second was Marco Penge (Eng) with 4,008.04 pts, plus estimated bonus of $1,000,000. Third was Matt Fitzpatrick (Eng) with 3,841.05 pts, plus estimated bonus of $750,000.

The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
